Au pied de cochon

Hello everybody,
Today I decided I would be talking about a restaurant I really like, but that is very unique in its genre. Located in the heart of the plateau, this is a restaurant for the meat lovers.

General:
The restaurant is called "Au pied de cochon" and is focused traditional cuisine. Martin Picard, the restaurant's chef, proposes a menu that is very rich but delectable at the same time. Also, for wine lovers, this is your place: the selection of wine is simply amazing.
Favorite Food: As a pure quebecer, I have to say that I am a bit biased... My favorite meal is the foie gras poutine. Her, in quebec, poutine is a very common meal in the fast food industry, but they had a fancy touch with the foie gras that is part of the sauce and that is added on top of the poutine. Also, as an appetizer, I really recommend the cromesquis de foir gras, which are like little balls of foie gras fried that you put in your mouth where you have an explosion of flavors. As I said, everything is very rich, but when you go there, you can't expect to eat light food like a simple salad (if you eat a salad, there will be cheese and a lot of stuff in it).

Other: The restaurant has a bistro atmosphere and the service is very friendly. Also, Martin Picard owns a sugar shack, which is great and in the same style as the restaurant. Overall, this is a great place if you are looking for a night out and have fun in casual way, while eating tasty food.

Cost : For dinner, the cost would be from 30 to 45 $ per person

Européa

Good morning everyone,
Yesterday, I went to a restaurant for my mother's birhtday located downtown montreal. It is a very chic, yet welcoming place that I strongly suggest if you are looking for a fine dining restaurant.
General:
The restaurant is called Européa and is well-known for his excellent chef, Jerôme Ferrer. This french modern cuisine is delicious and the mix of flavors is very present in every meal. Part of the "Relais & château", a collection of the most beautiful resturant and hotels around the world, Européa is really the place to celebrate any special occasion.

Favorite Food: Everything is impeccable and delicious. For my part, I took the giant scallops and was very pleased. The meal is quite rich and creamy but excellent! If you are not difficult with food, you should really consider the tasting menu. My parents took it and it looked divine. From foie gras to deer and ricotte ravioli, every plate is the right size (not too big or too small) to enjoy a great dinner. Finally, I loved the lime sorbet covered with white chocolate that they served befor dessert.

Other: The restaurant is beautiful (located in a victorian house) and modern, but is not over-the-top. The staff is very welcoming and always there to explain every meal. Also, at the europea, you are treated like royalty: about 10 times during the evening, they come with little tapas like goat cheese lollipops or lobster capuccino. Overall, the experience is great, but I really suggest you to forget about your lunch that day if you want to be able to keep up with all that you will eat that night!

Cost : For dinner,, a starter and a mealt would cost about 60$, the tâble d'hôte is 65 $ (5 courses meal) and the tasting menu is 95$ (9 courses meal).

Robin des Bois

Hi everyone,Robin des Bois - photo de presse
Yesterday, I went to a restaurant for my friend's birthday located on Montreal's main street, St-Laurent. The restaurant has very good meals and the price is very affordable. If you like the french cuisine, you'll love this place.

General:
The restaurant is called "Robin des bois", like the heroic outlaw in English Folklore that was known for robbing from the rich and giving to the poor. following this idea, Robin des Bois, is a not for profit organization that hires volunteers for the service and the kitchen. All the money collected from the customers are for special goes to different organisme located in Montreal

Favorite Food: I've only been once, but I had the risotto with smal scallops and it was delicious. Well cooked and very tasty, this plate turned out to be better than what I was expecting. Also, my friend took the mussels and fries plate and I have to say that I stole some of his fries because they were very good!

Other: The restaurant is quite big and you can make reservations any time. We were a group of 20 people and called the day before and they had plenty of place for us. The volunteers are very nice which makes the experience even better. Furthermore, if it is your birthday, there is a tradition that you write everything that you want to see disappear on a plate and they bring you in another room where you throw the plate on a wall. It is very funny

Cost : For dinner, you can easily eat for 15-20 $

Tagada

Good morning everyone,
Today i'll be talking about one of my favorite discoveries this year. Located on Van Horne again, and owned by the son of the "La Hacienda" owners (restaurant that I talked about in my last post), Here is a little bistro that will charm you.

General:
It is a Bistro Français  restaurant called Bistro Tagada. The restaurant is very small and intimate, but at the same time very colorful and welcoming. Again, since its size is so small, I strongly suggest that you call in before you arrive there to make a reservation or that you arrive early.

Favorite Food: My favorite plate at Bistro Tagada is the Beef fillet tartare with roasted pepper sauce and parmesan. It is very tasteful and is not a conventional Tartare which is what I love about it. Also, there is the home made foie gras and asparagus risotto which is delightful. Finally, if you go there for lunch, I would strongly recommend the aged cheddar grilled cheese.

Other: Even if the restaurant has only 26 seats, it doesn't lack personnality, that's for sure. Whatever you like, you will find something that will please you since the menu is so varied. From Burgers to Tartares, you will find something on the menu that you will love. Also, In the summer, you can have a lovely dinner on the terrace, if you'd like.

Cost:For lunch, the cost would be approximately between 15$ and 20 $ and for dinner more about 25$ to 30$ per person.

La Hacienda

Hey everyone,
Today i'll be talking about a restaurant which I love to go to. For the Mexican Food lovers out there, I strongly suggest you try this restaurant located on Van Horne, Outremont.

General:
It is a mexican restaurant called La Hacienda. The restaurant is very smal and intimate which is awesome, but I really suggest that you call in before to make reservation, because if not, there might not be any places left.

Favorite Food: I have to say that there are many things that I love to take at la Hacienda. First there are the margaritas that are simply delicious and that you absolutely have to take if you go to this restaurant. Aa an appetizer, I suggest the guacamole which is incredibly good. As for the meal, everything is quite good but chilaquiles and enchiladas with your favorite meat/vegetables and the sauce "verde" .

Other: Since the restaurant is very small, it is super cozy and intimate and perfect for a night out with your mate. The owner of the restaurant is always there and very welcoming. In the summer, the terrace is very nice to take a drink or have a fun lunch out in the sun

Cost:For dinner, the cost is approximately 20-30 $, which is kind of expensive for the type of food, but is very worth it because of the freshness of the products.

Bouddha Bouddha

Hi guys,
Today i'm going to talk to you about a restaurant that I love to go to when i'm craving for Thai food. It is located on St-Laurent Street near Avenue des pins. I hope you'll enjoy it :)

General:
It is a Thai restaurant and it is called Bouddha Bouddha. The restaurant is an "apportez votre vin" which is great is you don't want to spend to much on alcohol and enjoy a great evening with your friends.

Favorite Food: I'd have to say that my favorite meal at Bouddha Bouddha is the plate of crunchy noodles with chicken and vegetables. Also, if you are looking for a tasty Phat Thai or General Tao Chicken, you won't be disappointed, theirs is delicious.

Other: The waitors are very friendly and the ambiance is casual and welcoming. The decoration reminds the clients of South East Asia and since the restaurant is quite small, it is perfect for a get together with your friends.

Cost:For dinner, the cost is approximately 20 $, and you will get plenty of food for your money!

Mikado St-Denis

Hi guys,
Today i'm going to talk to you about a restaurant I really like located on St-Denis street near Ontario street.

General:
It is a sushi restaurant and it is called Mikado. It is the first of 3 Mikado restaurants located in different areas of Montreal. The chef, Jimmy, is very creative and tries to always improve his menu by creating new sushis.

Favorite Food: I'd have to say that my favorite picks at this restaurant are the "scallops to heaven", which are absolutely divine, the zucchini flowers stuffed with seafood and the "windows 99, a mix of scallops, avocado and strawberries with asian mayonnaise in a seaweed.

Other: The service is impeccable and the ambiance is perfect for a supper with your lover or for a group since the restaurant offers tatamis in the back for group reservations. They also offer a delivery service in certain areas of montreal.

Hey guys,
As a blog is supposed to be about something you really enjoy, I decided to talk about what I really like, which is FOOD!
I love to cook, I love to eat, I pretty much like everything related to food, so I decided that I would post recipes that I like and suggest montreal restaurants to those of you who, just like me, have a passion for food!
I hope you enjoy it :)
